I'm sorry Diff. I don't know what went on with you and your son but I once went a very long time not speaking to my mother. She thought she had the right to tell me how to live my life. Well, of course she had the right. I just decided if she couldn't accept the decisions I made as an adult (and I was almost 30) then I wouldn't speak to her. I told her this. And her decision was to remain pissed and not accept I was an adult and could make my own decisions (and had been for a very long time). She missed my entire pregnancy. But we called her after my eldest son was born and she came to the hospital. The thing is, never ONCE did she try to contact me either. Both of us can be a bit stubborn lol.

I don't know what the differences are between you and your son. But I will tell you this. Life is short. That truth came crashing down on me when my father died more than two years ago. My father drove me batty at times but I loved him. I only hope I told him that enough. Our last conversation was me being extremely exasperated by him. But I spoke to my mother before he passed and I know she told him I loved him, I told her to.

Congratulations on the grandbaby. I love being an Oma. And Sandy is right, new life sometimes will allow old animosity to fade. But both parties have to be willing to let it go. Take the first step.
